Governor Nathan Deal, in office since 2011, is a native of Sandersville, Georgia. During his first term as governor, he has focused on making Georgia a better place for businesses, reducing the size of state government, and reforming the state’s tax code.
Deal served as a U.S. congressman for 17 years, first as a Democrat, then as a Republican. Before that, he served as a state senator, judge, and prosecutor. He is married with four children and six grandchildren.
