Tammy Ann Magouirk
› Office: Tennessee House of Representatives, District 29
› Party: Democrat
› Previous public office experience: My previous public office experience includes chairperson for the Bradley Democratic Party, president and vice president of the Bradley County Women Democrats, and currently president of Cleveland Education Association.
› Why voters should choose me: As an educator and grandmother, I am passionate about our children’s education, and I am concerned about the growth of Chattanooga. I will work diligently to protect Tennessee’s public schools and to ensure that our children get the best education possible.
› Biggest challenge facing the office I seek: The biggest challenge facing state representatives is education. Tennessee’s public education is under attack by special interest groups without concern for our children’s education needs.
› How I will address this challenge: I will address the challenge of education by sponsoring and advocating for Tennessee’s public schools. I will research each proposed education bill and work across party lines to do what is in the best interest of our students. I will insist that Tennessee’s State Board of Education and legislators work together instead of working as two separate entities.
› Policy position of mine that may surprise people: n/a
› Public servant I most admire: I admire Bernie Sanders most. He inspired many people, especially young people, to get involved in local and national politics. He started a movement. He might have been able to win the Democratic nomination for president, yet he stepped down for the good of the people.

› Quote or saying I live by: Freedom is not free. I saw this quote on the Korean monument in Washington, D.C., and it took my breath away. It is simplistic but true. Many died so that we have the freedoms that we have, and many will continue to die to ensure our freedoms.
