Bill Hullander
› Office: Hamilton County trustee
› Party: Republican
› Previous public office experience: Served as Hamilton County commissioner representing District 9, 1998-2010.
› Why voters should choose me: I am very proud of the job we have done the last eight years. I have a great staff, which works hard for the taxpayers of Hamilton County. We have set up a partial payment plan and other ways to make paying taxes as easy as possible. We are known across the state of Tennessee as being one of the most up-to-date trustee offices in the state. I was honored to be named the Outstanding Trustee of the Year this year,
› Biggest challenge facing the office I seek: Tangible personal property taxes (personalty taxes) due and payable from a business is a harder tax for business owners to understand.
› How I will address this challenge: The Tennessee Trustee’s Association recently appointed a committee to work with the state of Tennessee to make this a more fair tax for all business owners. As a member of this committee, I hope to make substantial progress on developing a system to ensure business owners understand personalty tax.
› Policy position of mine that may surprise people: Partial and pre-payment plans that we offer.
› Public servant I most admire: It was a honor for me to serve this county with [the late] Claude Ramsey. He had to be one of the best public servants not only in our county but across this great state.
