Trivia

Biggest Fear: "I realize there's going to be days where I need that support from my team," Sandy says. "Not doing it basically by myself, I feel like that's what will help me succeed."

Biggest Goal: "I want to be mentally wise and sharp, on top of my game. I want to be a hot senior citizen," Sandy laughs. "I'd like to get up in the morning refreshed and feel good and I want to serve the Postal Service proud."

Sandy Kelley has had her eye on the prize from the beginning. The 58-year-old sales rep for the U.S. Postal Service caught our attention from the start by submitting an acrostic poem with the letters of "Live Fit Challenge" along with her application, as well as a slew of pictures from her childhood until now to represent her level of fitness over the years.

"I went for it to show I wanted this," she says. Plus, Sandy has a legacy to uphold.

Three of her aunts all lived well into their 90s, as did a grandmother and great-grandmother. "Longevity is in my genes so I can't break that legacy," laughs Sandy. "But as I've aged, weight has come on and I've gotten sedentary. I was always active in the past, but in the last 15 years I've gotten away from it."

Sandy is divorced with no kids, so she's used to putting all of her focus and energy into her job, and we already know she's a go-getter. Likewise, Sandy says she plans to put the same kind of effort into the competition as she does her work.

"She showed the most intensity in getting in the competition," says trainer Chris Oakley of Iron Tribe. "She looked right at me when we met and said, 'We're going to win, right?'"

Chris is just one of her trainers; Sandy will also be working with two other Iron Tribe trainers during her classes—Lauren Hammond and Ann Marie Riley.

Like every new member of the gym, Sandy will start out with Iron Tribe 101, a four-week, three-times-a-week class at the Cherokee Boulevard space that teaches the basic movements Iron Tribe utilizes throughout its workouts.
